What is a Dab Rig?
For those who are completely inexperienced,a dab rig is a bit confusing. Unlike bong, pipe or other traditional smoking mechanisms, a dab rig is not designed to catch anything on fire. Instead, it has a nail that is heated with a torch and then “dabbed” the concentrated extract of various herbs onto it. Once they are heated, they produce the vapor you inhale. The effectiveness of dabbing is one of the many reasons for its recent popularity soaring, and explains why so many dab rigs have appeared on the market.
The term “dabbing” is used because you actually dab a small amount of concentrated medication (wax or oil form) to your rig to generate steam. Typically, the oil concentrate is quite thick and does not run off the nail.
When dabbing, you must heat the nail first. Once it is hot enough, you can apply wax or oil. When using wax, place the mouth on the mouthpiece as the vapor should be achieved immediately. Once the vapor is materialized, you can inhale the steam.
Once you have done a few times dabbing, it will be easy. The exact way you do this may vary depending on the style of equipment you use. However, in its most basic form, it involves applying a small amount of concentrate - oil or wax - to the nail or heating element. However, don't be misled. Most nails do not heat themselves up. With the exception of e-nails that can do this, you must use a torches to heat your nails. Dab rigs and torches are usually sold separately, but you can sometimes buy them as a set.
